Planting & Care

1. Planting: First, full sun is important for your Gout Plant to thrive (this means about 6 to 8 hours of sunlight per day). If you’re container planting, select a container that’s only slightly larger than the plant’s shipped container. Only repot in a larger container when it appears to outgrow its pot. From there, ground and container planting instructions are the same: Dig a hole large enough to accommodate the Gout Plant’s root ball, place your plant, and water to settle its roots.

2. Watering: In late spring to early summer, water your Gout Plant weekly while letting the soil dry out in between weekly waterings. If you’re not sure when to water, simply check your plant’s surrounding soil, about 2 inches down – if the soil is dry here, it’s time to water. When Gout Plants are brought indoors for the winter, they may enter dormancy and drop their leaves – but this is normal! Continue to check the soil for adequate watering during indoor growth.
