Unique Tropical Style for Patio and Indoor Growth

Why Gout Plants?
Known for its tropical-inspired looks and carefree growth, the Gout Plant makes an exotic statement. Named the Buddha s Belly , this plant grows without effort, delivering a little slice of island style in any climate and space.

You can have its vivid red floral stalks and vibrant green foliage, outdoors or in. During the hotter months, it thrives on your patio, with its drought-tolerant, effortless nature and stunningly exotic looks. When it gets colder, simply bring it inside and place it by a sunny window to enjoy as the temperatures drop.

The Gout’s no-nonsense, straight-forward growth can’t be understated. In fact, you only need to water it a few times per year…it thrives on rain during the summer months, as it grows outside. No matter where you grow it, you get the guarantee of sizable leaves, coral blooms, and a unique, eye-catching trunk.

Planting & Care

1. Planting: First, full sun is important for your Gout Plant to thrive (this means about 6 to 8 hours of sunlight per day). If you’re container planting, select a container that’s only slightly larger than the plant’s shipped container. Only repot in a larger container when it appears to outgrow its pot. From there, ground and container planting instructions are the same: Dig a hole large enough to accommodate the Gout Plant’s root ball, place your plant, and water to settle its roots.

2. Watering: In late spring to early summer, water your Gout Plant weekly while letting the soil dry out in between weekly waterings. If you’re not sure when to water, simply check your plant’s surrounding soil, about 2 inches down – if the soil is dry here, it’s time to water. When Gout Plants are brought indoors for the winter, they may enter dormancy and drop their leaves – but this is normal! Continue to check the soil for adequate watering during indoor growth.

3. Fertilizing: Feed your Gout Plant once a month with a balanced fertilizer, typically during late or early summer.

4. Pruning: Remove any dead, damaged, or diseased branches may be pruned off at any time.
